Pakistan call up Kamran Ghulam, Hasan Ali for the New Zealand Tests

Following Azhar Ali’s retirement, Pakistan have named uncapped batter Kamran Ghulam in their Test squad for their upcoming series against New Zealand.

As well as Hasan Ali, Mohammad Ali and Faheem Ashraf, who both played against England, have been dropped from the Test squad.

As recently as this year, Kamran was in the reserves for the Tests against Australia after being called up into the Test squad in 2021.

It was also reported that Haris Rauf was still injured by the Pakistan Cricket Board. As Haris Rauf is recovering from an injury sustained during the Rawalpindi Test, he has not been included in the squad. Naseem Shah, who had missed the Multan and Karachi Tests due to a shoulder niggle, has been declared fit and will therefore remain in the squad,” the PCB stated.

Pakistan are scheduled to play two Tests against New Zealand with the first starting on December 26 in Karachi, and the second on January 3 in Multan. This will be Pakistan’s next series at home following the whitewash against England that has left them at 7th spot, one above defending champions New Zealand, in the World Test Championship points table.

Test squad: Babar Azam, Abdullah Shafique, Abrar Ahmed, Hasan Ali, Imam-ul-Haq, Kamran Ghulam, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Naseem Shah, Noman Ali, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Salman Ali Agha, Saud Shakeel, Shan Masood, and Zahid Mehmood
